New
Product Spotlight - Whisper Wear Hands-free Breast Pump
Sitting
in our spotlight this month, we are happy to premiere the
incredible brand new Whisper Wear (Single Pumping Kit or Double
Pumping Kit) Breast Pump before it even hits the market.
During
the La Leche League Physicians Conference in July in beautiful
Sedona, AZ this year, we had the privilege to meet the Whisper
Wear team to talk about their new Whisper Wear Breast Pump.
The
Whisper Wear Breast Pump is the first truly wearable, hands free, professional
grade pump.
First
of all, the Whisper Wear Hands Free Breastpump is extremely small. Its'
lightweight design allows for the Mommy to insert it underneath
her bra without any problems. It has a soft, flexible cup
that molds to the breast for ultimate comfort. After the
pump has been inserted under the bra, a re-usable stem is
inserted into the disposable bag and then the stem is inserted
and attached through the bottom of the pump. The design is
clever. After seeing a demonstration, the connection was
easy, clean, and the seal was tight. This design allows
for Mommy to have her hands completely hands-free to do other
things she needs to do as well. Since the pump is
extremely quiet, those other things could include office work as
well.
After
pumping, the stem is removed and the easy-tab closure seals
designed into the proprietary bag allows for spill-free
storage. The pump comes with a re-freezable cooler pack
which can keep the milk cool for up to 8 hours.
One
of the things we thought was incredibly nice was the fact that
after each use, there are only three pieces to clean and they
were all dishwasher safe. There was no need to clean any
part of the pump itself.

The
Whisper Wear Hands Free Breastpump was designed by medical engineers and licensed
lactation consultants, together. What a concept! So,
every issue with other breastpumps were taken into
consideration. Here are some of the highlights of the
product:
Freedom
to move with hands-free pumping
Whisper
Wear™ Hands-Free Breastpump is worn under everyday clothing without
cumbersome wires or tubing and without having to hold pumps in
place. Mommy can read, walk around - even breastfeed baby
- while pumping.
Soft,
quiet comfort
Small,
lightweight pump has a soft, flexible cup that molds to the
breast for ultimate comfort. The gentle sucking motion and
quiet motor provide an experience that feels most like
breastfeeding a baby.
Professional-grade
performance
Whisper
Wear utilizes patented technology that revolutionizes the breast
pumping experience. Advanced features include:
- Innovative pumping cycle that mimics baby's suck and
release patterns to enhance the
expression of milk
- Self-cycling motor to automatically maintain mothers
desired vacuum level and cycle rate
- Finger-tip controls located directly on the pump for
easy access and adjustment
Sealed,
spill-free milk collection and storage
Re-useable
stem and disposable bag provide a sealed milk collection
system. After pumping, the easy-tab closure seals the bag
for spill-free storage. Re-freezable cooler pack keeps
milk cool up to 8 hours.
Quick
and easy to clean
Whisper
Wear prevents messy leaks and milk from backing-up into the
pump. After each use, there's only three pieces to clean -
all dishwasher safe.
Ultra-compact
design
Stylish,
lightweight carry bag neatly holds everything for pumping,
collecting, and storing milk. Surfaces wipe clean with a
damp cloth to keep the bag sanitary and looking new.

After
looking at all the exhibits at the La Leche League Conference,
it was obvious that the Whisper Wear Hands Free Breastpump was the hit and
commanded the most attention. I spoke to Whisper Wear's
CEO Ken Myers. Ken has another company he started that
makes medical devices for hospitals and other
organizations. "I had a close friend who was a
licensed lactation consultant and she kept telling me about the
complaints her peers and mothers she helped always talked
about. I kept thinking there must be a better
way." From there, Whisper Wear was born.
The
clinical trials are complete, the company has obtained a medical
device classification, and the product is scheduled to ship
sometime in October.
