Instructor Bios
Kathleen
Harper, CMT (Infant Massage)
A
Certified Massage Therapist (CMT), Kathleen holds a specialized pregnancy
massage therapy certification from "Bodywork for the Childbearing
Year”. She is a Certified Infant
Massage Instructor (CIMI) through the International Association of Infant
Massage (IAIM) certification program and is a Certified Newborn Massage
Instructor through Baby's First Massage.
Kathleen is extensively trained in Swedish, deep tissue, reflexology,
and other massage therapy techniques.
Kathleen has a specialized Bachelor of Arts Degree in Integrative Healing from
San Francisco State University. Her
education focused on psychology, kinesiology, and Eastern and Western
philosophy, religion and holistic health approaches.
She is a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP),
International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM), and the International
Association of Childbirth Educators (ICEA).
Bill Austin
White (Baby Sign Language)
Bill
White has a Bachelors Degree in Psychobiology from UCSC and is the proud father
of two hearing children. Both of his children learned to use sign language before
their first birthdays and continue to use sign language to this
day to communicate. Enthused by the success of signing with his
children, Bill now teaches others to teach their children.
In addition to teaching sign language courses, Bill works
has worked as a commercial print
model in the San Francisco Bay Area for several years and is the Fashion Show
Director for Modern Bridal Productions organizing several high
profile runway shows annually.
He is also Director of Operations for
Kidsfaire, the largest family expo on the West Coast. Kidsfaire is an
amazing weekend full of non-stop entertainment, interactive pavilions, and
unbelievable attractions for the kids.
Quijian
"Q" Maloof (Infant/Child CPR & First Aid)
'Q' (Quijuan
Maloof) has been an EMT Paramedic and an EMT Field Training
Officer saving the lives of children and adults for five years.
He has been teaching CPR, First Aid and Basic Life Support for
seven years for UCSF and the San Francisco Paramedics Association.
He is also a Communicable Disease
Control Investigator for the San Francisco Department of Health in charge of
investigating and confirming cases of communicable diseases, determining sources
of infection, and controls outbreaks by devising & executing plans of action and
by providing education information & prevention methods.
"I
particularly enjoy teaching the Babiesandmoms students because
they all truly want to be in my class. These students pay
such close attention and ask fantastic questions.
Also, I think when families bring their infants with them, the
babies act as living reminders of how important it is to know what
to do in an emergency.
Pamela
Caldwell
(Herbalist, Pregnancy, Birth & Postpartum, Lactation,
PMS,
and Menopausal Issues)
Pam
has 20+
years of herbal experience, including formal training and
certification through Dry Creek Herb Farm. Trained by
Shatoiya de la Tour and Rosemary Gladstar, she received her formal
certification in 1995. She completed Midwifery Intensive and
Advanced Midwifery Intensive training by Elizabeth Davis,
Midwifery Educator and Co-Founder of the National Midwifery
Institute, Inc., receiving high marks in both courses.
Pam
has over a decade of experience in working with pregnancy, birth
and postpartum, lactation, PMS, and menopausal issues.
Pediatricians, doctors, midwives, and hospital lactation centers
all over the United States seek out Pam's advice and refer their
clients to Pam for her herbal expertise and quality herbal
products.
