Lactation Consultations
We offer one-on-one consults with our Internationally Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC), both in our store and home visits as well, depending on where you are located. Our lactation consultations are by appointment only, please call 650.347.6455 to set up a consultation. Most of our availabilities for consults are during weekdays during store hours (or right before or after closing), however we will do our best to accommodate you if you need a different time.
Our consults are one hour long, but can be made longer depending on your individual needs and questions you have. If you would like a longer or shorter visit than one hour, please call the store (650.347.6455) and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. If you have twins, we make a double consult (two hours) to leave plenty of time to address both babies. We also offer "Back-to-Work" consults, which last 45 minutes and cover all of the bases for returning to work and breastfeeding.
Lactation Consultations are a wonderful way to set your breastfeeding career off on the right foot. These one-on-one consults are with our Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC's) who are very experienced in the field of Lactation and strive to provide guidance, confidence and assurance to breastfeeding mothers and their families.
In-Office Consultations: For our office consultations, you meet one-on-one with one of our consultants in our store located in Burlingame. We encourage our customers to use the complimentary two-hour parking lot located behind our store on Chapin Ave (for the store address and directions, go to the "Directions & Parking" page). During this visit, the consultant will get a pre and post weight of the baby and will observe a nursing session, when they will answer any questions or concerns that you have and will provide any new techniques or tips that will help with the problems the mother or baby is having with breastfeeding.

In-Home Consultations: For home consultations, one of our consultants meets you in the comfort of your home and provides all of the wonderful services and assistance that is provided in our office consultations. The consultant brings a baby scale to get a pre and post weight of your baby and will observe a nursing session, when they will answer any questions or concerns that you have and will provide any new techniques or tips that will help with the problems the mother or baby is having with breastfeeding.
Our pricing for in-home consultations depends on where you are located. Our local boundaries for in-home consults include the cities of San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo, Belmont, and San Carlos. If you are located in a different city, there may be extra charges for our consultant's gas and driving time (to get a price quote for an out-of-area home consult, please call the store at 650.347.6455).

Back-To-Work Consultations: For Back-to-work consultations, you meet with one of our consultants for 45 minutes in our store in Burlingame. During this consult, you and the consultant will make a plan for nursing and pumping specifically tailored to you, your baby, and your job. The consultant will also provide you with information and questions for your baby's caregiver, important pumping and milk storage information, as well as guidance on how to balance pumping, nursing, and storage with your workplace and your time considerations. In addition to our back-to-work consult, we also have a wonderful Back-to-Work Support Group for our working moms once a month (please check the "Support Group" tab for more information.). Once again, we encourage our customers to use the complimentary two-hour parking lot located behind our store on Chapin Ave (for the store address and directions, go to the "Directions & Parking" page).

Personal Pump Testing and Cleaning
Do you have a hand-me-down pump? Or a pump from your earlier child that you want to use again? With all of the stipulations regarding personal-use pumps, it can be difficult to know what the best course of action may be with their usage and safety guidelines. Most pump companies recommend not sharing personal-use pumps, as they are designed to be for single-person use. The reasoning behind this recommendation is due to contamination and mechanical concerns with previously used breastpumps. We do not encourage going against these recommendations, however we realize that due to the expenses and other factors surrounding pumps, there are many people that are using (or planning to use) previously used breastpumps.
In order to ensure that our customers that are planning on using used pumps are doing so in a safe and beneficial manner, we offer a convenient service of cleaning and testing personal-use pumps. Just come into the store and drop off your pump and pick it up the next day (we will call you when it is finished). We will test the suction levels of the pump (to check the condition of the motor), and then clean it with a hospital-grade cleaner to ensure that there is no contamination issues. After we find the results, we will call you and let you know what whether we recommend using this pump, and what the condition of the motor is. We are unable to perform any repairs to the pumps, however if we find any problems, we will do our best to trouble-shoot the problems. We do carry replacement parts for personal-use pumps, and we can show you demonstrations on how to set up and use the breastpumps as well. No appointment is necessary.
